1. Purpose
This Acceptable Use Policy sets the rules for using Sweep Certificates. It covers the website, the mobile app, online booking on booking.sweepcertificates.co.uk, and Premium API or AI agent connections.
It sits with our terms and conditions. If you use Sweep Certificates, you must follow both.
Sweep Certificates is software for chimney sweeps, stove installers and similar trade businesses in the UK and Ireland.
2. Permitted use
You may use the Service for your own legitimate trade business. That includes:
- keeping customer, appliance and appointment records
- issuing certificates and warning notices
- sending reminders, quotes, invoices and other business messages to people you are entitled to contact
- taking online bookings, if you have that add-on
- connecting accounting software, calendars or Premium API and AI tools for your own company
You must use the Service in line with UK law, and Irish law where your work is in Ireland. You must also follow the rules of any trade body whose branding you use on certificates.
3. Prohibited activities
You must not:
- use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- send spam, or message people who have not given you a lawful reason to contact them
- upload or send malware, or try to break, overload or probe the Service
- try to gain access to another company's account or data
- resell, rent or white-label the Service without our written agreement
- use another business's name, logo or association marks as if they were yours
- create an account, certificate, booking page or message that pretends to be a different sweep or company
- use the API, AI agents or other connections to copy, scrape or export data you are not entitled to use
- interfere with billing, trials, usage limits or security controls
4. Content standards
You are responsible for everything you put into the Service and everything you send through it. That includes certificates, emails, SMS, WhatsApp messages, quotes, invoices, booking profile text, photos and customer records.
Content you store or send must be accurate to the best of your knowledge, lawful, and related to your real trade work. It must not be threatening, deceptive, discriminatory, or used to harass someone.
If you send marketing or reminders, you must have a lawful basis and honour opt-outs. That is your duty, not ours.
5. What we do and do not check
We apply some technical protections. For example, we sanitise HTML in emails to reduce the risk of malicious code. We may refuse a sign-up that looks abusive or unrelated to a trade business. We do not let a company rename itself in the product. A name change has to go through us.
We do not moderate the content of your certificates, messages, booking pages or records. We do not carry out identity checks, KYC, or impersonation screening. We do not verify that your trading name, association membership or contact details are correct, beyond public information.
You are responsible for the content you send and for an accurate business identity. If a householder, association or another sweep complains about a name or a message, we may look at that complaint. We do not promise to review content before it goes out.
6. Enforcement
If you break this policy or the terms, we may warn you, limit features, suspend the account, revoke API or AI access, or end the subscription. We will act as we think is reasonable for the risk. Serious or unlawful use may lead to immediate suspension.
We may keep records needed to investigate a complaint or to meet a legal duty. Fees already paid are handled under the cancellation policy and the terms. We do not have to refund a period lost because of a breach.
